Course Description

The Construction Project Management Training and Workshop: Computer-Aided Construction Project Planning, Scheduling, Resource and Cost Management, and Control is a comprehensive 20-hour hands-on training and workshop designed for construction professionals seeking to enhance their project management skills using industry-leading software tools, Microsoft Project and Primavera P6. This course provides a comprehensive overview of construction project management principles, followed by in-depth training on scheduling, resource allocation, cost management, project tracking, and reporting. Participants will gain practical experience in utilizing project management software to improve efficiency, optimize resource allocation, and ensure cost control, enabling them to successfully plan, execute, and monitor construction projects.

The course aims to equip participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills required for effective construction project planning, scheduling, resource management, cost control, and monitoring using Microsoft Project and Primavera P6. By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental principles of construction project management, including project cycles and critical path method (CPM).
  • Utilize Microsoft Project for project planning, task scheduling, resource management, cost tracking, and report generation.
  • Create and manage project schedules, dependencies, and task relationships using MS Project.
  • Apply resource allocation techniques and cost management strategies in MS Project.
  • Monitor and track project progress using baselines, actuals, and reporting tools.
  • Gain proficiency in Primavera P6 for enterprise-level project management, scheduling, and activity tracking.
  • Develop work breakdown structures (WBS) and manage project activities efficiently in Primavera P6.
  • Assign and manage project resources, including labor, materials, and costs, using Primavera P6.
  • Generate project reports and track project performance using advanced reporting tools in both MS Project and Primavera P6.
  • Integrate project data with other tools, such as MS Excel, for enhanced reporting and collaboration.

Participants should have a basic understanding of construction project management concepts, including scheduling, resource allocation, and cost estimation. Familiarity with project planning methodologies, such as the Critical Path Method (CPM), will be beneficial. While prior experience with project management software is not required, a working knowledge of construction processes and workflows will help maximize learning. This course is designed for civil engineers, architects, construction professionals, and even students or fresh graduates who are eager to enhance their skills in project planning, scheduling, resource and cost management, and control.
