STAAD.PRO FUNDAMENTALS WITH INTRODUCTION TO STAAD ADVANCED CONCRETE DESIGN (RCDC)
20-HOUR TRAINING & WORKSHOP
Course Description
This intensive 20-hour hands-on training and workshop on STAAD.Pro Fundamentals with Introduction to STAAD Advanced Concrete Design (RCDC) is designed to equip civil and structural engineers with practical competencies in 3D structural modeling, analysis, and design using internationally recognized software. The program offers a structured, progressive learning experience focused on real-world applications of STAAD.Pro in both steel and reinforced concrete structures. It integrates foundational concepts of computational modeling with code-compliant design in accordance with the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015) and globally accepted standards such as ACI 318M-14 and AISC 360-10.
Participants will explore step-by-step model generation, materials and member property definitions, complex load applications including seismic loads, interpretation of detailed analysis results, and structural design with in-depth parameter setup. The final session introduces STAAD Advanced Concrete Design (RCDC), providing a modern and streamlined workflow for designing beams, columns, slabs, and footings with auto-generated calculations, structural drawings, and bar bending schedules.
This program emphasizes design accuracy, safety, and software proficiency, making it especially valuable for engineering professionals in consulting, academia, and government who are involved in infrastructure and building design. The course includes comprehensive discussions, interactive demonstrations, and engineering exercises to solidify learning outcomes and ensure professional competency.
Course Objectives
This course aims to develop the participants’ capability to model, analyze, and design various structural systems using STAAD.Pro, and to introduce them to the integrated concrete detailing and documentation features of STAAD Advanced Concrete Design (RCDC). By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Navigate the STAAD.Pro user interface, including the use of structural entities and command file editing
- Model 2D and 3D structures using appropriate coordinate systems and structural tools
- Assign material properties, member specifications, and plate meshing techniques
- Apply various types of structural loads including self-weight, point, member, plate, and thermal loads
- Perform static and seismic structural analysis using appropriate parameters and combinations
- Interpret analysis results such as nodal displacements, member forces, and plate stresses
- Conduct steel and concrete design based on the NSCP 2015 using AISC 360-10 and ACI 318M-14 provisions
- Utilize STAAD Advanced Concrete Design (RCDC) to generate beam, column, slab, and footing designs with detailed calculations and drawings
Entry Competencies
Participants are expected to have a foundational understanding of structural engineering principles, such as load paths, stress analysis, and basic design concepts for beams, columns, and slabs. Familiarity with code-based design (e.g., NSCP, ACI, AISC) is helpful but not mandatory. Basic computer proficiency is required, including working with technical software, navigating file systems, and interpreting engineering drawings. Prior experience with other structural design tools or exposure to CAD or BIM environments will enhance the learning experience but is not a prerequisite.
