Course Description
This 16-hour hands-on training and workshop is designed to bridge the gap between quantity takeoff and construction scheduling using two powerful tools: Bluebeam Revu and Primavera P6. Through a structured four-day program, participants will learn how to efficiently extract quantities from construction drawings using Bluebeam, translate them into Excel, and seamlessly integrate the data into Primavera P6 for project scheduling. The course focuses on a real-world workflow tailored for planners, quantity surveyors, engineers, and project managers aiming to optimize construction planning through accurate quantity takeoff, cost estimation, and activity scheduling.
Course Objectives
The course aims to equip participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills to perform precise quantity takeoff using Bluebeam Revu and develop effective construction schedules using Primavera P6, enabling integrated planning, cost loading, and project control. By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Navigate the Bluebeam Revu interface and apply core tools for digital measurement and markup.
- Perform quantity takeoff for various construction elements such as slabs, walls, and windows.
- Organize and summarize measurement data using custom columns, legends, and markups.
- Export quantity takeoff data from Bluebeam to Excel for further processing.
- Translate QTO data into project durations and work breakdown structures in Primavera P6.
- Create a comprehensive project schedule using logical relationships and productivity-based durations.
- Assign and manage resources (labor, equipment, materials) in Primavera based on the quantities taken off.
- Optimize the project timeline and resource usage and generate scheduling and cost reports for project planning and billing purposes.
- Demonstrate end-to-end integration from construction drawings to reports using Bluebeam, Excel, and Primavera P6.
Entry Competencies
Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of construction project workflows, including familiarity with building elements and typical construction processes. Prior experience in interpreting construction drawings and using Excel is recommended, as these skills will facilitate the measurement and scheduling exercises. While no prior knowledge of Bluebeam Revu or Primavera P6 is required, participants should be comfortable with using computers and navigating software tools, as the training involves hands-on activities, software interfacing, and real-world simulations. This course is ideal for quantity surveyors, planners, engineers, and construction professionals seeking to enhance their planning accuracy and project control capabilities.
